This page is a retelling of the Dust-Eye Plague, a pandemic that caused all trade with Nova Nami to be banned.
Once upon a dreary day in Avo, a family mysteriously passed away in their own home.
When Undertakers went to bury the bodies and bring them peace, they left the scene with scratchy throats and found it hard to breathe.
Their families stay by their sides as their breathing becomes labored over the coming days and their eyes turn to a dull grey color. By then it is too late.
Over the next few weeks, Krin drop left and right to a strange plague that attacks their breathing and causes their eyes to turn gray like ashes.
Few were lucky enough to pass peacefully in their sleep, and The Queen at the time would call a country-wide lockdown- Forcing everyone to stay in their homes and avoid coming into contact with the sick.
Zephyr Enclave and it's floating islands became a safe-haven for scientists and doctors to try to create a vaccine for the plague, but with nobody able to leave it was a difficult task.
Two months in, and Avo is quiet. So many lives were lost and Winter would be coming soon. Those with personal gardens were able to feed their families, but those without had to brave exposure to the plague in order to see if the shops or the local farms were still open.
Krin started taking risks when Winter hit- They donned masks, gloves, and their coats. The people helped bury those that did not survive, and bring food to those still too scared to leave their homes.
When spring came, the doctors of Zephyr Enclave had created a basic vaccine and a few volunteered to fly down to test it, knowing they had a chance of never coming back.
The Queen at the time would come onto the televisions and the radios to give hope and blame Nova Nami for the illness sweeping her lands. But the doctors' vaccine had shown progress! While the vaccine itself caused minor coughing for a few days, it was better than what Krin were calling the "Dust-Eye Plague." -Named for it's starting location of Dweller's Dustine and for how it made it's victim's eyes turn a strange dusty grey color.
Once the vaccine was able to be mass-produced, the Queen at the time lifted the lockdown and write it into law that all Krin and Krinkits would need to get the Dust-Eye Plague (DEP) Vaccine as part of their yearly medical checkups and in order to enroll their Krinkits in schools.
The original family's house that fell to the plague was burned down and replaced with a memorial for all those that were lost to the Dust-Eye Plague. It can be found in Dweller's Dustine.
