What is a Porcupynx?
Porcupynx are large felines who look deceptively soft, but are actually covered in sharp quills on their backs that hide in their furry cape! They have unique and distinct facial markings too, with sharp sabers and big strong paws that help them walk silently in the snow during winter.
While they are quite large as adults, they cannot be saddled or Krin risk getting sharp quills in their bums. However Porcupynx are very common as pets in Avo, especially The Outskirts. Porcupynx are great at keeping small hostile creatures out of houses, like Clowns- But can be territorial with other Porcupynx and introducing a new Porcupynx should be done slowly as to not stress them both out.
Porcupynx actually aren't native to Avo! They were brought over thousands of years ago from Nova Nami by the Krin of old- Since then feral Porcupynx populations have made their home in the forests of Avo and the homes of many Krin.
Many Krin are scared of Porcupynx due to their size and carnivorous diet, which is understandable. However most feral Porcupynx are more likely to run away unless they have kittens, which is when they will flare their quills out to make themselves appear bigger.
However if a Krin were to feed a feral Porcupynx for a few months, they could find themselves with a new furry friend moving into their house.
Baby Porcupynx are called Kittens! They are born blind, deaf, and with soft quills. They drink their mother's milk for 4 weeks before weaning off and eating solid foods.
At 8 weeks old, they start joining their mother on hunting trips to learn important skills so they can survive in the wild- But Porcupynx kittens are incredible popular as pets so they'll usually get adopted into a Krin's household before they get to adulthood.
