What is a Unit of Inquiry?
What is a Unit of Inquiry?
A unit of inquiry is a 6 week in-depth exploration of selected concepts. Students inquire into a central idea (or a big idea) by being guided by lines of inquiry and teacher questions. These units transcend all subjects areas and always fall under one of the 6 PYP Transdisciplinary Themes.

PYP Transdisciplinary Themes
"Students inquire into, and learn about, these globally significant issues in the context of units of inquiry, each of which addresses a central idea relevant to a particular transdisciplinary theme. Lines of inquiry are identified in order to explore the scope of the central idea for each unit."
These themes "are considered essential in the context of a programme of international education."
