Updated list of shooting victims

A tribute to those who have lost their lives due to gun violence in the United States as of August 3rd, 2019.

On August 3rd, 2019, twenty-two people were killed by twenty-one-year old Patrick Crusius in an El-Paso Walmart. The very next day, Connor Betts went on to wrongfully murder ten more people in Dayton, Ohio. These shootings, though amongst many, shook the entire United States to the core, as they represented yet another case of a government that fails to put its citizens’ lives first-- preferring instead to stay on the good side of gun lobbyists. At Pass the Mic, we value the lives and narratives of the communities we serve, and as it so happens, these communities are more often than not literally coming under fire by bigoted, murderous people. As such, we have decided to maintain this document and regularly update it with the names of any victims of any shootings starting from August 3rd, 2019. This is what we, as citizens, residents, or visitors of the United States, owe to these victims and their families. The fight for gun-control in the United States is an on-going and all-consuming fight, and though many will feel entitled to give their opinions on shooting events, we place the personhood of these victims first by memorializing their names, ages, and the day of their passing. Their names will not be forgotten.
