Why Pass the Mic?
To me, Pass the Mic is a platform of love, radical acceptance, and community. The Pass the Mic team is made up of conscious-minded, critical people, who consistently check themselves and allow for growth, even when that growth is contradictory to what has previously been said. All these factors create community, and community is the strongest provider and enhancer of love. For many individuals with target identities, acceptance, love, and community are scarce. People of target identities are so often reduced to their label or kept in a box where they can only ever engage in what the world assumes they must. I feel like Pass the Mic offers that beautiful alternative: the chance to connect with one's social identity through one's passions, interests, and motivations.
Goals for Pass the Mic:
I just hope that my contribution to Pass the Mic will be in helping the platform keep telling those multi-dimensional stories by forming sincere and loving connections through dialogue, community events, and genuine moments of vulnerability.
