Why Pass The Mic?:
Because it is essential for the health of our community here on-campus (and anywhere and everywhere) that voices of marginalized communities are not only listened to, but affirmed and cared for. In order for us to do our job as a platform for these communities we aim to serve, we must not speak for them, but rather pass the mic along for them to share their own truths. Pass the Mic’s importance is that we’re never doing just one thing as a show. We aim to educate and promote student activism on-campus, while also creating a community and space for healing and celebration.
Goals for Pass The Mic:
My goal is to have our show become more than just a show. I wish for Pass the Mic to become a powerful network and community spreading across many communities, clubs, faculty and resources on this campus. My vision is that we can become an effective tool for people who are spear-heading their own activist efforts and need to elevate their message in a bigger, more widespread way. Also, that we are a long-standing platform which will exist while our team is attending Skidmore, but also beyond.
