Club Career

Outside of the international team, Horan forgoed her scholarship to play at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to play with Paris Saint Germain in 2012. After scoring 46 goals in 58 appearances over her four years at the club, Horan made the switch to the NWSL where she played for the Portland Thorns. In 2017, the Thorns won the league with Horan scoring the winning goal in the championship, leading her to be the NWSL Championship MVP. A year later, she received the NWSL MVP award. In 2022, Horan moved to Olympique Lyon on a loan, signing a permanent contract the following year.

Intro

At 29 years old, Lindsay Horan is looking to lead the US Women’s National Team to a gold medal in her third Olympic appearance. The Colorado born-and-raised midfielder has been playing with the senior team since her debut in 2013, and has since recorded 146 international caps and 35 goals. 

International career

Horan earned her first international cap at age 18 playing in the 2013 Algarve Cup. In 2019, Horan played in the FIFA Women's World Cup, scoring in the opening match and returning to the states as a world champion. As mentioned before, Horan will be playing in her third Olympic games this summer following a call up to the 2016 senior team. In the 2020 Olympic qualifying games, she scored her first career hat-trick against Panama, and played her 100th match during the actual games, scoring a goal. This 5’9 captain is looking to lead the United States to their fifth gold medal and the first since 2012.
