Intro

At 33 years old, Wendie Renard is a force to be reckoned with on the French Women’s National Team. Renard  is hoping to bring the host country a gold medal in her third Olympic appearance. Born in Martinique, this defender started playing soccer at the age of seven for Rapid Club Le Lorrain. She was identified at the age of 16 by the head coach of Olympique Lyon to play in games in the very top league. From there, she was scouted to play on the national team only 3 months later.

International career

As mentioned before, Renard will be playing in her third Olympic games this summer on her home turf. Currently, Renard is one of the most ornamented players in women's club football. She has won an astounding amount of 14 French league titles and 8 European Cups. In 2023, she decided not to play on the national team due to her mental health because Corinne Diacre was head coach. However, as soon as he was fired, she agreed to play for the team and serve as captain. Now, she is anticipated to be a driving force in the success of the French national team in the upcoming Olympic games.
