Intro

At 26 years old, Jessie  Fleming has lit a fire beneath her feet as she is expected to lead the Canadian Women's National Team. Renard is hoping to bring the host country a gold medal in her third Olympic appearance. Born in London, this midfielder started playing soccer at the age of 3 for the Nor’West Optimist Soccer Club and stayed there until 2016. A player rarely stays with a team for so long, but that is what Fleming did. Fleming was given a Division 1 athletic scholarship where she played for the UCLA soccer team from 2016 to 2019. At a young age, she already has had an incredible career and is hungry for another win this Olympics.

"It's really special to get to contribute to the win. There's a group of players on our team who have worked on this for 20 years. Seeing them cry after that match means so much." Fleming after Canada won the 2020 Olympics

International career

As mentioned before, Fleming will be playing in her third Olympic games this summer. Fleming previously played in the 2016 Olympics where she helped Canada score a Bronze Medal. She most recently played in the 2020 Olympics and assisted in the Canadian triumph as they won a Gold medal. She has done it once and is ready to do it again! Fleming played for four years with Chelsea F.C. of the Women’s Super League. This training and exposure under her belt will make her an incredible leader in the 2024 Olympics.
