Life as an Interning Artist
As an interning artist, I create my own schedule and work on self-directed projects with mentorship from the artist residency directors.
My art at La Macina is full of gratitude and experimentation. I am surrounded by the best of the best artists. They inspire me to try new things, push my comfort zone, and collaborate.
A typical day as an interning artist:
7am Periwinkle sky means it's time to wake up!
7:30 Tiptoe outside to do yoga in the garden
8am Breakfast & study Italian on my own
9am-12:30 Work on internship projects or run errands w/ Mimma
1pm I make a simple lunch for myself in the shared kitchen. Pasta!
2pm Finish morning work
4pm Creative time! Walk through the Tuscan country side, pausing to read, paint, write, or video chat home
(6pm Aperitivo or artist event *at least once/week)
Or make a shared dinner with the artists in the communal kitchen.
8:30 Hang out with the artists or more creative time
9:30 Lean out my bedroom window like a storybook character and try to believe that I'm actually living in a 1,100-year-old parish church in Italy.
10pm Read until I fall asleep to the sound of crickets
