Project Leads help run a UX project (see above for list of Orcasound projects). They lead regularly scheduled stand up meetings and help onboard new project team members. They send out reminder emails and posts in the appropriate Slack channel. They report to UX and other Orcasound leadership, setting up presentations of research findings, design reviews, and final recommendations. They work with Product Managers to move UX to development.
If you’d like to volunteer as a Project Lead, please reach out to a member of UX leadership, or post in the #ux-general Slack channel.

Orcasound is a group of people volunteering their time to work on projects. As a volunteer it is important for you to know:
Re: Orcasound organization
Orcasound is not an official registered organization with the U.S. Government, therefore do not have a formal structure,
so accordingly we do not have:
- an address
- a primary point of contact
- volunteers do not have a supervisor
Re: working hours
There are no required working hours, you can work as much or as little as you want.
- Orcasound does not monitor or verify working hours.
- All work is done remotely on your own equipment.
Re: Job descriptions
Job descriptions posted on DemocracyLab/Orcasound website(s) are general.
Tasks are decided on and agreed to with the project team members.
Re: volunteering for Orcasound in order to fill Visa requirements:
Unfortunately, Orcasound is not able to provide any documentation to fulfill Visa requirements, therefore we do not provide offer letters.
Orcasound does provide a template letter that you can fill out to prove you are a volunteer with Orcasound.
Contact the UX-Onboarding Team via the #ux-onboarding channel in Slack to request the template letter.
