Open Fruit seeks original text, visual, and sound submissions from artists and writers. Generally we are looking for work that is unconventional, transgressive, curious, daring, authentic, and fire! 

Submissions for Issue 7 are now open. Issue 7 is a collaboration between the Graphic Design Department and the Creative Writing Program at Santa Barbara City College. The Graphic Design Department here at SBCC will produce our issue of Open Fruit, and the Creative Writing Program will produce the online edition. 

To submit, use this form! We cannot accept email submissions without going loco. :)_

In the form, you can send a Word doc of up to five poems or 1 story no more than 1000 words; up to five jpegs or png of visual art; or 1 song or sound piece in WAV or MP3 format. Submissions close the day after February 27th, 2026.
