There are two types of trainings that are required for AA qualifications. Most are stand alone and only require completion once. The second is reoccurring which means courses are taken annually or triennially – also referred to as Refresher Training (RT). When the transition occurred, we knew there would be responders who were either missing required training because of grandfathering, or missing documentation of required training in the Incident Qualifications and Certification System (IQCS). A grace period was given to allow individuals an opportunity to catch up except for RT-130. Effective January 1, 2024, the National Prescribed Fire Program Review in 2022 added a new reoccurring training requirement for all RXAA’s to have RT-300. The grace period has come to an end and all AA reoccurring training will be required effective January 1, 2025.
Additionally, there is an All Hazards Training Requirement from when the President issued Homeland Security Presidential Directive No. 5 (HSPD-5) in 2003 which requires; An Introduction to the Incident Command System (ICS-100), Basic Incident Command System (ICS-200), An Introduction to the National Incident Management System (IS-700), and National Response Framework, An Introduction (IS-800). All of the All Hazards Training is required to be completed by January 1, 2025.
