All students must submit a R6 LEI Statement of Disqualifying Criteria to this submission folder no later than 10 days before the refresher of choice.

To attend the refresher, you must confirm that you are not disqualified by any of the following criteria: (As listed in FSM 5303.7)
•Criminal records consisting of a felony or serious misdemeanor conviction(s).
•A showing of a current drug or alcohol dependency. FPO’s shall maintain a high level of moral conduct both on and off duty and ensure that their actions do not reflect negatively on the Forest Service.
•A showing of current mental or emotional instability.
•Any known criminal or non-criminal activity that would have the potential to prejudice courtroom testimony. This includes ethical violations to include candor, dishonesty and acts of misconduct that would warrant impeachment during testimony in court.
•Associations or dealings with persons whom they know, or should know, are under criminal investigation, or who have a reputation in the community for involvement in criminal behavior should be avoided. If unavoidable and detracts from Officer or the Agency’s reputation, such interactions should be discussed with Supervisor.
•Any associations with organizations or groups that advocate, incites, or supports criminal acts or criminal conspiracies against the United States or violates the Constitution of the United States
Registration for 40-Hour New FPO Training Open
Those interested in attending the FPO Initial Course must first get approval from their supervisors. The course will include the 36-Hour Initial FPO training material as well as a 4-Hour LEIRS session. All interested applicants must be confident they will pass a background check. Applicants must be a permanent employee and have a PIV card/LincPass.
Attendance at a full course is required if an FPO fails to attend an 8-hour recertification course for a period of more than 3 consecutive years.
Process Summary:
Applicants seeking initial FPO authority shall submit their interest via link provided in the nomination letter located below by March 9thth.
Forest Supervisors will receive the list of potential applicants by March 10th for prioritized formal nomination to be submitted by March 23th.
Patrol Captains will receive a list of nominees by March 24th for final approval to be submitted by March 27th.
Selected Applicants will receive confirmation by March 30th and must submit the following documents by April 6 th: background form FS-5300-9, SF-182, and a copy of their valid PIV card. These forms will be emailed out when the applicant is selected.
