First week intro and bio*
Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatul Allahi wa Barakatu! I am Sister Iman, your child's teacher for Arts and Crafts. I am excited to take students on this creative journey of learning, In Shaa Allah. May Allah SWT bless it with khair.
What was covered today:*
We began by introducing ourselves and taking about why we are excited about arts and crafts. Today students were given a choice between two activities: they could either write a letter to the Prophet Muhammad SAW or prepare a pamphlet on the 5 Pillars of Islam. We discussed why we do not draw the face of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, or draw any features of Allah SWT, and respecting the Prophet SAW and Allah SWT in our work. Students were asked to decorate their letters and/or decorate their pamphlet with drawings that remind them of the 5 pillars.
Homework for next week:*
If the student has not finished their letter to the Prophet Muhammad SAW, or their pamphlet on the 5 pillars of Islam, they are asked to complete both with drawings and/or words. They are asked to bring these back to class for a show and tell In Shaa Allah.
What will be covered next week:*
Next week we will do a show-and-tell of the last week's activities. We will then do a simple calligraphy activity to introduce students to the intricate, complex art of Islamic calligraphy in a simple, engaging way.
