Syncing audio and video with Merge Clips

Syncing audio and video with Merge Clips

Premiere Pro provides a method for synchronising audio and video called Merge Clips. This function streamlines the process by which users can sync audio and video which have been recorded separately (a process sometimes called double-system recording). You can select a video clip and sync it with audio by using the Merge Clips command.

Clips can be merged by group selecting them in the either the Project panel or the Timeline. The Merge Clips command may be invoked via either the Clip menu or a contextual menu.

Before using the merge command you need to rename the clips to match the project with scene, shot and take.

You also need to mark an in-point where the clapper closes and when you hear the clapper on the separate audio file.

With your clips renamed and your in-points marked you can go ahead and select Clip>Merge Clips

Normally you will be syncing by In Points. There are other options for syncing.

Normally you would Remove Audio from AC Clip - in other words your camera file.
