Setting Sequence Start Timecode

All films have a 10:00:00:00 start timecode. With a 30 second clock your start time should be 09:59:30:00

Exporting a reference movie with timecode overlays for colour grade and sound design

*** Adding overlays is considered industry best practice but is optional. Goto Exporting the video file below if you wish to skip this step.

First we need to add timecode information which is useful for sound designers and colourists.

Adding Timecode Overlays

Create a New Item in your project. - Transparent Video

Add an extra Video track and apply the transparent video layer to it. Drag it out to cover the whole sequence.

We are now going to add 3 Effects

The 1st Timecode Effect is for the Sequence Timecode

The 2nd Timecode Effect is for the Clip Timecode

The 3rd effect adds source clip names

From the Effects palette, drag and drop the Timecode effect onto the Transparent layer – twice

Then search for Clip Name and add that effect

Now Look at the Effect Controls – you will see 3 effects Sequence Timecode
