Our Collective Workout Playlist
This playlist is completely made up of rap songs that have stimulative qualities. A few of them start off quietly but build up to choruses and moments that carry lots of energy. These are all songs that we agreed on as being well known, and that would fit perfectly in a workout setting. An important part of being motivated at the gym with music is knowing all of the words and being able to predict what part is coming next. All of the songs in this playlist are from some of the artist's best albums and many of them are very well known tracks. Action Bronson's song on this playlist was made for the movie Southpaw, and is featured in one of the movie's workout scenes. Additionally, the playlist has tracks from Eminem, Kanye West, Kid Cudi and a few others. Although many of these songs aren't very recent, their rhythm and beats are timeless. The melodies and tempos are all upbeat and the timbre shares many of the same qualities in each song. The texture of these songs is layered and complex. Many of them are smooth and flow well, but can also change pitch quickly to create various effects. We believe several of these tracks could be classified as sedative instead of stimulative. That is not to say that they create a relaxing mood, but rather a steady beat that slowly builds energy. All of these songs collectively lay well together and have the potential to create an excellent workout setting. Something from the text that stuck out to us was "Some people are attracted to the physical qualities of music and thus enjoy dancing or exercising to music, rather than listening quietly in a concert hall."
