O. SHENKER, What is a physical explanation of experience?

Università di Firenze, November, 30, 2021, h. 11.30-12.30 CET

In their recent books, David Papineau (Conscious experience, 2021) and Donald Hoffman (The case against reality, 2019) challenge the traditional notion of ‘experience’ as being ‘of’ something, specifically of “the external world” (be its nature as it may). These two versions of this line of thinking call for a reappraisal of what we take to be a physical account of experience - and this is the task I undertake in this talk (which presents a work in progress).
