In this paper we examine the following question: which of the various approaches to Quantum Mechanics can be regarded as the best way to shed light on Sellars’ problem? This question is elaborated by assuming, controversially, that classical physics, based on the concepts of space time and causation, lies at the foundation of the manifest image, in the sense that its tenets are developments of concepts that arise from ordinary language and cognitive structure. Quantum mechanics, which is the fundamental theory of the physical world, can be identified with the scientific image. Since the entities that it describes behave in ways that cannot be understood within the framework of classical physics, it is important to measure the distance that the various interpretations of QM create with the manifest image.
