There have been some changes to Google Classroom over the holiday.
Nothing to worry about!
They're designed to make Classroom more streamlined and easier for the pupils to use. I'm certain we'll come to love the changes but they might take a little bit of adjustment.
Key points:
- Introduction of a 'Classwork' page, a new place to put all assignments where they are organised by topic, not by date set as they used to be in the stream.
- The 'Stream' is to be used more for communication with pupils, for posting announcements and messages. A notification that an assignment has been set will still appear in the stream sp pupils won't miss the work.
- The introduction of the 'grading tool'. This is designed to make it easier to move between pieces of work when you are marking a class assignment. There's also a 'comment bank' so you can save comments you make frequently and use them with one click.
- The removal of the 'About' page. Course materials that you might have put there will now go on the Classwork page.
- Notifications. It's now possible to turn notifications on or off for particular classes. I think this one will be really popular!
This video looks at the changes in a bit more detail.
