For instance, students may have difficulty making sure that their sentences make sense, are grammatically correct, and align with their opinion. This difficulty may impact one’s ability to stay on topic, use transitions, and write with varied sentence structure. Without these essential components, students’ writing does not flow. The cognitive and metacognitive strategies below will help students write clear cohesive sentences, elaborate on their ideas, and narrow down their topic of interest so that their focus is clear. The strategies provided will also help students direct their energy toward recalling information and expanding on their thoughts.
