Students with SLD often have difficulty knowing what information to study and how exactly to study. These challenges are often a result of not knowing how to take effective notes, organize information both mentally and textually, and make connections between concepts and topics. Due to difficulties with independent study skills, students often perform lower than their typically developing peers on academic assessments. To increase students' knowledge of evidence-based practices and approaches used for retrieval, students must be taught how to utilize different strategies. The strategies below will help students learn how to monitor and record their progress.
