Step back into the earliest years of cinema, where silent films, gothic shadows and pioneering filmmakers helped create the language of the movies.

This section celebrates the birth of cinema, from early horror and fantasy to the films that started it all.

Here you’ll find my reviews and thoughts on the silent era, including classic horror, early monsters and the foundations of the films we still love today.

At the moment I have only reviewed the 1910 version of Frankenstein.  This is because the Silent Era is not one of my favorites, however more is to come. 

Lots of interesting films to cover like - The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1920), Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1920), Nosferatu (1922), Haxan: Witchcraft through the 

Ages (1922), and The Phantom of the Opera (1925).  

Hope to cover all these eventually so stay tuned.
