Facilities, Equipment, Technology, & Materials
My Miter Saw Safety Program demonstrates my understanding of managing facilities, equipment, technology, and materials in the classroom and lab settings. This artifact correlates with my ability to relate my safety instructions and rules to current industry standards and practices. The program also ensures that all relevant safety and health regulations are met when using a machine in the lab setting. Providing a safe environment for all students in the lab setting is the most important component of leading a high-quality program. I will be sure to execute these principles in my Ag program by ensuring that safety exams are passed regularly and with 100% accuracy.
This lab redesign was completed for Howells-Dodge Consolidated. After surveying and photographing the lab, I hand-drew the layout and arranged the machines and resources to scale. I then considered upgrades and repositioning of the machines to create a safer lab environment. Next, I illustrated my proposed layout, designed to enhance safety, optimize walking patterns, and establish designated safe zones. This redesign ensures that students have appropriate and equitable access to all necessary resources. These resources align with current industry standards and practices while also meeting all relevant safety and health regulations.
