Access & Equity
My experience working at the Boys and Girls Club in Lincoln, Nebraska, exemplifies my commitment to creating an equitable and inclusive CTE program. The Boys and Girls Club at Lincoln North Star High School hosts a diverse group of students coming from many different backgrounds. I had the opportunity to mentor students, treat them in a respectful manner, and build relationships with them in a positive and encouraging way. Throughout my time at the club, I learned principles that I will carry over into my classroom. Specifically, I will ensure all students have equal access to program information and opportunities, regardless of their background. Additionally, I will create an environment that is free from bias and discrimination, ensuring all students feel welcome and supported. Finally, my program will provide accommodations and support to ensure all students can succeed, including students with disabilities.

My SAE Teaching and Grading Plan exemplifies my ability to create an equitable and inclusive CTE program. This teaching and grading plan covers how I will incorporate SAE's as a grade in my classroom. This plan ensures that all of my students have an opportunity to be involved in hands-on experiences through an SAE. No matter the student is background, he or she will receive the same amount of support in developing and advancing their SAE. Students who live in town or others who may not have as many opportunities for an SAE will be offered a range of support services to ensure that they have the resources they need to succeed. Additionally, this program environment is free from bias and discrimination, ensuring that all students feel welcome and supported.
