Operation Substance Use Disorders
(formerly Generation Rx)
Operation Substance Use Disorders is one of the patient care projects in MPSA focused on increasing awareness in the community about the dangers of prescription drug misuse and abuse. Our goals are to educate all ages in the community about medication safety, engage the community in discussions about prescription drug abuse and misuse, and inform on the signs and symptoms of misuse, proper storage, and disposal of medications. Some opportunities you could get involved in include presenting in health classes at local middle and high schools and attending health fairs. This year, our new initiatives include giving a presentation at a local assisted senior living center, participating in a National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, hosting a naloxone training session in partnership with the Steve Rummler Hope Network, and collaborating with other patient care projects to expand our audience to elementary kids by volunteering at community clinic events or elementary schools. No experience is required to attend our events! Getting involved with Operation Substance Use Disorders is a great way to begin talking and engaging with community members and patients of all ages while improving your public speaking skills. Sign ups are available in the weekly MPSA email. Please feel free to contact the coordinators (emails listed below) for more information or with any questions!
