Operation Heart is a sub-organization of MPSA. Our missions include raising awareness on the importance of preventing cardiovascular disease and educate patients on how to maintain a heart healthy lifestyle. By working in collaboration with pharmacists, pharmacy students, and volunteers, we hope to empower the community to become better advocates for their own health. In the past, we participated in various events including the Little Earth Health Fair, Bi-National Latino Health Fair, Richfield Public School Community Wellness Expo, JDRF One Walk, and American Heart Association’s Go Red Expo. At these events, we were able to provide blood pressure, cholesterol, and BMI screenings. We also collaborated with other organizations including the Multicultural Pharmacy Student Organization, Project Chance, and the National Kidney Foundation to set up health fairs at the Korean Service Center, YMCA Heritage Park, Harbor Light Center, and Open Streets. Our goal is to continue looking for opportunities to expand our patient care project to the bigger communities.
