How Female Dragons Work: I've done a lot of worldbuilding for my dragons, including a lot of speculative biology regarding their reproductive cycle. So, to explain: There are technically no female dragons. In my world, dragons evolved as parthenogenetically-reproductive pseudo-reptilian creatures which use the bodies of mammals as incubators for their young, and since this method is penetrative using a masculine-appearing appendage, most dragons consider themselves and present themselves as male. However, occasionally, an ativistic true female is born, and such is the case with Zephyr. Socialization among dragons isn't gendered, therefore he has never considered himself 'female' and never used the pronoun 'she'. However, Zephyr does not possess an oviduct or ovipositor organ -- his reproductive organs are entirely internal, and he requires penetrative sex and fertilization by a male to reproduce himself.

Due to this, in his human state Zephyr has female genitalia, and can also be impregnated by just about any creature which is brave enough to mount him -- and since he isn't terribly discriminating in his taste in men, it's more likely than not.

In a normal cycle, 1-2 dozen small eggs are laid 3-5 weeks after fertilization, warmed in hot sand or an incubation chamber, and the young are released into the wild to find their own way in the world. On rarer occasions, though, a single egg remains, the shell dissolves, and Zephyr will carry a fetus to term. This is how hybrids are born -- Dragonkin, Dragonborn, however you wish to describe them.
