Whitney

Physical Description: 20-28 years old. 6"1, compact muscular build (think a swimmer's figure) with sandy blond hair and deep brown eyes. 6" uncut. When he dons his pelt he is able to shapeshift into a sea otter, but if his pelt is taken he is trapped in human form.

Background: Whitney is an inquisitive character, very much like the creatures in whose form he spends most of his time. He is intrinsically linked to the sea and in human form he tends to take on jobs or hobbies which keep him close to the ocean; he could be a fisherman, a crewman on a ship, or even a surfer. Selkie lore describes that if a human wishes to take a selkie for a lover, they must find and hide the selkie's pelt. Doing so traps them in human form and bends their affections toward the human, making them seem to fall in love with them instantly. However, if the selkie should ever find their pelt, they must decide if they -- and any children they have produced, who are selkies themselves though they are trapped in human form so long as their parent is -- will stay with their human lover or go to the sea and never return.
