Background: The child of a wealthy Japanese businessman, Rio grew up with high expectations for his success, but while his twin sister Haruka did exceptionally well both in school and socially, Rio never quite felt like he fit in. As a youngster he experimented with wearing his sister's clothes, and was punished severely when his father discovered him doing it, so when, as he grew older, he realized he was attracted to males, he lived a deeply closeted, desperately lonely existence, eventually finding some release in the world of Harajuku fashion. Though still presenting fully as male at the time, he found community with the pseudo-drag culture of a group of other boys his age, but his desperate urge to be loved -- and a growing sex drive -- left him offering 'favors' to his fellows during their weekend hang-outs in town.

Somehow, he pulled it together enough to win a scholarship to study fashion design in California, but almost as soon as he had emigrated and settled into his university lodgings he found that academia just wasn't the place for him. He had grown to loathe any time he had to spend studying, and found any and every excuse not to. When he was kicked out of his dorm he found the cheapest hotel he could afford with his remaining, meager scholarship fund, and as one thing led to another, fell back on using his body to make ends meet. Now he turns tricks on the seedy square near campus, hopping from one bar to the next to make enough to stay in his crappy room for another night.

Rio is almost always played as an Omega, and in most verses is depicted as having both a vaginal opening and a small but functional penis.
