Physical Description: Teddy has no 'true' form -- the appearance he uses was based on stock picture frames his mother bought while raising him, and he just continued growing from there. His typical, preferred form is that of a tall, broad but not burly male, about 6'4", with golden-blonde hair and bright blue eyes. His other form -- the one known to the public as Hulkling -- has evolved over the years, but the basics remain the same: standing at a much greater height (variable, but probably close to 8 feet), bright green, with heavy armored scales over his shoulders and a broad pair of dragonlike wings on his back.
Powers:
Superhuman strength, durability and endurance: As a Skrull-Kree hybrid, Teddy has the benefits of both races' increased attributes. He can survive extremes of heat and cold, is undamaged by things which would kill human beings, and survive massive blood loss with minimal lingering effect.
Shape-Shifting: As a Skrull hybrid, Teddy's body has a remarkable amount of plasticity, able to change his appearance, mass and damage threshold. He also possesses an innate sense of his own body; he was able to move his organs in an unconscious state to prevent himself being vivisected.
Flight: He is able to manifest a set of dragonlike wings from his back, giving him the ability to fly.
Regenerative Healing Factor: Teddy heals at an accelerated rate thanks to his mixed physiology, and has shown the ability to regrow damaged tissue, limbs and even brain tissue. He is also highly resistant to disease and other toxins.
Background: As far as Teddy ever knew, he was a normal boy growing up on Earth with a loving mother until adolescence reared its ugly head. Then, he began noticing more than a few changes going on -- in part, he was stronger, getting big and green... but in another part, he was noticing his peers a lot more. Noticing boys a lot more. For a while, he kept both things about himself a secret, but that turned into a twofold nightmare -- a friend of his, Greg, used one secret as leverage to make him use the other, use his powers to impersonate heroes and celebrities to enjoy a taste of the high life. But when Greg wanted them to break in and loot the abandoned Avengers mansion, that's where Teddy drew the line and ended the friendship.
Soon, Teddy was found and recruited by Iron Lad -- Nate Richards, one of many past iterations of Kang the Conqueror -- and joined his Young Avengers as Hulkling. While navigating a new world of superheroism, while also quietly dating his teammate, Wiccan, Teddy began learning more about himself.
His mother wasn't his mother. Mary-Anne had been his nurse, spiriting him away from danger soon after his hatching. His mother was the Empress of the Skrull Empire, Anelle -- and his father, who had never known him, was the original Captain Marvel, Mar-vell of the Kree. The half-blood prince of warring factions, Anelle knew her son would immediately be threatened by forces both without and within, and so she sent her nurse away with him -- just before Skrullos was devoured by Galactus, and Anelle along with it.
Teddy is aware of all of this, being informed by the Super-Skrull who had arrived to either recruit or kill him -- nearly sparking a war with the Kree, who had also arrived to either recruit or kill him. The youth was able to broker a temporary peace, sending Kl'rt to impersonate himself with the Kree while he was able to stay on Earth. His home.
Teddy has never met his father, in spite of Mar-Vell returning to life briefly recently. He met a Skrull who had Mar-Vell's memory engrams, though, and was able to find a bit of closure in learning a bit about where he came from. Teddy has met two of his siblings, though both are versions from alternate realities -- Phyla and Genis-Vell, and since both were artificially aged to adulthood, Teddy is technically the eldest.
Teddy is compatible with most Marvel AUs, though I'm more hesitant to have him take part in the MCU, mostly because of how much has to be retconned in order to make his existence make sense (damn that Captain Marvel movie).
Any potential ships assume a breakup with Billy at some point in the past, either after the events of the Children's Crusade (teens) or during/after the events of Young Avengers Vol. 2 (Gillen), due to stress in the defeat of Mother.
i have a lot of comic crops for Teddy, but I have used Dougie Poynter and Mason Dye as faceclaims
I have always liked Allan Heinberg's original idea for having Teddy actually be biologically female; while I prefer him as a male character specifically, I've always headcanoned that he, like Lyja, might just wind up with a little egg in his tummy. Do with that what you will.
AUs: House of M, Fairytales, Fallout
