Simply import MonKey in your project from the asset store.
Monkey is situated by default in the plugin folder. If you want to move Monkey elsewhere, check out the Settings section (we do not however recommend doing so as it would lengthen your overall compile time).
MonKey is compatible with all the Unity version from 5.6. It should automatically make the necessary changes in case you switch from one version to the other.
However, in the unlikely event in which you encounter any problem after switching the engine's version, please delete MonKey's folder and reimport it.
Note: If you are using Unity 2018.3, you may have a warning telling you the plugin uses obsolete Unity API: you can ignore this warning as it will only happen when you import MonKey. It is due to some files being compiled only for older versions, these files are ignored as soon as MonKey detects your Unity version.
To Call MonKey, you can hit one of the default hotkey ( ` ~ §±²^º¬Ё), or go to Tools/Monkey Commander/Activate Command Console.
This should be this key! (At least on most keyboard)
The hotkeys were configured to map to the top left key of your keyboard, and should match most of the keyboard layouts available.
If you are unable to use this key or if you would like to use another one, please get to the Settings section.
The Monkey Console is dockable, but can also work as a popup if you prefer to not to change your work layout.
In Popup Mode, MonKey will show up only when you call it, but it may hide useful editor panels.
In Docked Mode, Monkey will be sleeping until you call it, but will always show in the same spot. It can also be hidden in tabs
Note: We recommend the docked mode, as it makes the workflow easier in our experience. If you do not want Monkey to be visible all the time, you can as well make the tab secondary. Whenever you will call the monkey, the tab will refocus.
We also made sure the color scheme matches both the pro and free editor colors when MonKey is Sleeping, so that it is not intrusive.
Note 2: If you do not dock the Monkey Console, it will reappear as a popup every time you call it. It may as well be a bit slower than the docked mode to load. It is however the most practical usage when working on a small screen.
