Mengal Festival
The Mengal Festival is one of the most anticipated celebrations in Echague and even the neighboring towns. It is the happiest, most colorful and unique celebration held typically during the first week of October, which celebrates and showcases the history, courage, unity, culture, tradition, and abundant harvest of every Echagueno citizen.
Mengal Festival was established in 2016 through Municipal Resolution No. 2016-054, to celebrate the indigenous Yogad Heritage and commemorates local Heroes known as "Mengal" - a term used to mean warriors, hunters, and leaders such as Kapitan Tercero.
Beyond entertainment, the Mengal Festival serves as a platform for cultural preservation and education. It aims to revive and sustain Yogad traditions, ensuring that the community's heritage is passed down to future generations .
