Magamuat: Purification after Burial
My town Echague, people have their own beliefs, special traditions when there is a family member who died. This tradition is called "Magamuat" a death ritual of the Yogads.
After the burials, there is a Purification Ritual. In which all the people who went to the burial are required to wash their hands or heads in a mixture of burnt hay ashes and vinegar.
They do this for the belief that they will cleanse themselves and stay away from evil spirits or misfortune that may come from the dead and to ensure that the living are protected before they return to their daily lives as normal.
This is one of the beliefs and traditions so that they can protect and give respect to the people who have passed away.
