A Heartfelt Update From the modcore Team
Hello everyone,
We want to take a moment to speak honestly with you about the pace of development for modcore Extension Manager. We know updates have been slower than many of you expected, and there have been bumps and rough edges along the way. We owe it to you to explain why—and to ask for your understanding and support.
Why things have been slower than we hoped
The truth is, we’ve hit some significant challenges that have slowed us down more than we anticipated.
First, financially, things have been tough. modcore has always been independent and self-funded, and while that independence allows us to prioritize privacy, user control, and openness above all else, it also means we’re limited in what we can do at any given time. Every line of code, every new feature, every bit of testing relies on the small resources we have available. We’ve had to make tough choices about what to work on—and what to delay—just to keep the project alive.
Second, we overestimated what we could realistically achieve. When we first mapped out the modcore roadmap, we were ambitious. We dreamed big. We wanted to bring you everything we could imagine—a robust, fully-featured extension manager, a rich Marketplace, advanced analysis tools, and seamless usability. Looking back, we realize we took on far more than we could reasonably deliver with the small team and limited resources we had. Some of the features we promised are still in development or have been temporarily put on hold, simply because we couldn’t dedicate the time and manpower they deserved.
Finally, the technical complexity is greater than many people realize. modcore isn’t just another extension manager. It’s built to be private, transparent, and secure, while still giving users powerful tools to understand and control their browser. That means many features require careful planning, testing, and iteration. Sometimes progress looks slow because we’re making sure that what we release actually works—and doesn’t compromise privacy or stability.
We know it can be frustrating
We understand if this has been frustrating for you. We feel it too. Every time we hit a roadblock or have to delay a feature, it weighs on us, because our goal has always been to give you a tool that makes your browser experience better and safer. We want to move faster, and we want to bring all the features we imagined to life—but we need to balance ambition with what’s actually possible.
What we’re doing to keep moving forward
Even with these challenges, we haven’t stopped. We’re focusing on:
Making core functionality more stable and reliable. Every update aims to make modcore more robust and easier to use.
Improving the Marketplace and Creator Program so that optional extras, themes, and add-ons can support modcore without compromising our independence.
Listening to your feedback to prioritize the features that matter most to our community.
We might be slower than we’d like, but every small step we take now builds a stronger foundation for the future.
A sincere apology—and a request
We want to apologize for the delays, the bumps, and any frustration this has caused. We’re truly grateful for your patience, support, and belief in the project.
If you want to help modcore keep moving forward, there are a few ways you can make a real difference:
Share the project with friends and fellow browser users who care about privacy and control.
Provide feedback, report issues, or suggest ideas that help us focus on what matters most.
Support optional Marketplace extras when they become available. Every contribution, no matter how small, helps keep modcore alive and independent.
We’re proud of what we’ve built so far, and we’re committed to continuing this journey. It won’t always be fast or easy—but with your support, it can continue.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being here, for believing in modcore, and for being part of this community.
