After the last documented day of Halloween I did (2006) and how the morning programme ran a phone-in poll of "Should trick or treating be banned?", I decided I absolutely had to document one of recent Halloweens. Dylan went out trick or treating for the first time last year, and I knew we would do it again because he loved it so much. There is a rule: Only go trick or treating at decorated houses/houses with a pumpkin outside. See how much times have changed!
4.30: Gareth's alarm goes off. He goes back to sleep, I realise Dylan is still in bed! (MIRACLE! Just the previous night for example, he was up at 1.30am)
5.00: Heating turns on, I'm still awake.
5.25: I give up and get up, seeing as it will be warm downstairs. I speak with Google Home Mini and she turns the lights on for me.
I get laundry on and write Dylan a WOW voucher for school because he stayed in bed.
5.59: Dylan gets up, says see you later to daddy, and Gareth leaves shortly after. Dylanw sits with me, we watch Morphle on YouTube Kids after I finish, and have cuddles on the sofa.
The next couple of hours we have a quick game of Mario 3D World and then watch Disney Life (Jojo's circus, Phineas and Ferb) and get dressed and ready to go.

8.30: Time to leave. Dylan puts on a Spider-Man mask and stands on my scooter while I push him. (I love this scooter, it really helps with the journey to and from school!) Once my scooter is locked up in the playground, I take Dylan in and we meet his friend Liam. Coat on his peg, bookbag in his drawer, water bottle with the others and I hand his wow voucher to his Teacher. I ask about the upcoming parents evening and then I leave. I unlock my scooter and listen to the pocket talk podcast on the walk home. (I don't scoot home, it's on a bit of a hill lol)
9.03: I'm home and the recycling men have been so I take our containers and take my parents one in too.
9.30: Ring school for an appointment for parents evening. End up spending half and hour trying to sort something out for the slot I had.
Went to Tesco for my 10-12 pick up slot. I do click and collect, so I pull up to the area at the end of the car park and sit in the queue waiting for my turn. There's never usually a queue.
Shopping away, tidy up kitchen, put the last of the washing on the airer and I put on Descendants 2 in the background. (Trying to make the most of that Disney Life membership!)
12.30: I eat lunch...
... and then I prep Dylan's pumpkin for later. He got too excited last week during half term and insisted we do the Paper Mario pumpkin too early and Mario is looking a little worse for wear.
Watch a bit of Youtube : Bus Life NZ. I then go upstairs to sort through the previously dry laundry I took off the airer.
1.30: Dad's home!
I go over to see him (perks of having parents right next door) He's watching the news and weather while doing the ironing. We catch up.
Come home, it's gone over dark so I get the laundry in from the line. I get round to sorting Dylan's window with some Fab Foam as a temporary fix, there's a bit of a gap so I will have to look at getting a new seal from work.
I get the costumes out and finish putting the laundry away.
*Bleeping* drawers break again. I spend a while fitting them back in. Note to myself to start looking for new ones and think of a plan for the TV (as the drawers are a part of a whole unit that also includes a vanity area and some shelving with the TV sat on top, so it won't be as simple as buying new drawers)
2.30: Sit down and watch a bit of YouTube until my alarm goes off at 2.45
(Stood in the queue to get in the playground, with my scooter)
Pick Dylan pup for 3.05 and his teacher said he had a good day. He has a sticker!
We get dressed straight away and head out trick or treating. Hello from Alice and Luigi!
We are walking up the road by 3.50, after seeing grampy next door and saying Trick or Treat for a packet of Starburst lol. We walk around for a quite a while until we finally find some decorated houses.
We are home gone 5pm, and Dylan empties out his bucket to see what he got. We carve the pumpkin and start answering the door to all the trick or treaters. Dylan's having a great time except he's being a little bit naughty with the sweets!
6.10: Still getting trick or treaters and down to just 12 packets of sweets left (honestly, we have never had so many EVER! Even last year!) I managed to get tea on between the doorbell going. Chicken burger and chips. Not the best, but it'll do as we are so busy! Plus the amount of sweets Dylan has consumed...
7.00: Ran out of sweets. We have a sign saying "no more trick or treaters as our little monster is in bed", and had to put it up early!
Hubby comes home shortly after, he had a ready meal in the fridge that needed eating up today so all the more reason for the chicken burgers for our tea. (I cooked a casserole yesterday). Dylan has cuddles.
7.20: Dylan wants a bath and I did say previously that he could stay up a little later tonight anyway so I agree. Hubs finishes off his tea and then goes on his computer but asks for a coffee once I'm done.
Dry Dylan off, brushes his teeth, I take him downstairs to get his hot water bottle and get Hubs his coffee.
Take everything and Dylan upstairs. Tuck Dylan in (no story tonight as he stayed up late and it has been a busy day!) he says he had lots of fun today but was sad because Halloween is over.
8.14: Indie Projects on YouTube. My hot water bottle is in the best and I'm tired, so go to bed shortly after.
