Opening Still Available For Fall 2025
The A–G requirements are a set of high school courses that students must complete in order to be eligible for admission to the University of California (UC) or California State University (CSU) systems. These courses are designed to ensure that students graduate with a strong academic foundation and the skills needed for success in college and beyond.
The term “A–G” refers to the seven subject areas that make up this sequence: history and social science, English, mathematics, laboratory science, a language other than English, visual or performing arts, and college-preparatory electives. To meet the requirements, students must complete these courses with a grade of C or higher.
Even for students who do not plan to attend a UC or CSU, completing A–G courses helps keep all postsecondary options open—whether that means applying directly to college, transferring from a community college later on, or pursuing a career program. Following the A–G pathway gives students both flexibility and strong preparation for whatever comes next.
