Accepting Applications for Fall 2026
We assign a secret pal to each student. Your student will bring a small gift (homemade or found around the house or outside) for their Secret Pal and place it in their SP’s cubby.
Our goal is for each child to think about what other people like. And to be empowered by making something intentional with their own hands (and sometimes your hands too).
Another goal for this special event is that each student learns that someone else is thinking about them; is interested and cares about their interests as well!
If your child does not attend school every day we encourage you to make a plan to drop off gifts ahead of time and a teacher/teacher assistant will ensure the gift is placed in the cubby.
This year we have three days of gift giving for your student’s Secret Pal (Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday). On Thursday, February 12th we will celebrate Valentine's Day. Your student can give a clue to reveal that they are the ONE giving the gifts. This has been done in the form of a handmade card, a puzzle or a map. It is up to your student
Every student gives a handmade cards to each person in their group. Although some time will be given in class to make cards, some time may be needed at home.
We ask for handmade cards so that students can practice, Name Practice, Spelling, Handwriting, Hand Eye Coordination, Empowerment, Compassion, Connection and Creativity.
If a student wants to give to a person in another group, they must give a card to each person in that group.(Each student may, if they like, give a card to their buddy and/or sibling without giving one to the whole group.)
We ask that families refrain from food gifts and if they must please no candy, chocolate or tree nuts. If a student wants to give any type of food, they must distribute it in the valentine pockets at school only on the day of our celebration, Thursday, February 12, 2025.
We ask that no one look inside their valentine pocket (made at school), once it is hung up and displayed until they are at home or in the car going home.
