Opening Still Available For Fall 2025
Even though Mistwood cannot offer "IEP services, accommodations and modifications" can offer personalized learning supports that are comparable to some IEP services, accommodations and modifications.
Service that might be on an IEP
Specialized Academic Support in a small group setting up to 360 minutes a week.
Comparable Learning Support Mistwood offers.
Our small class environment and individualized support may be comparable to small group specialized academic support offered to students in public schools. We can offer up to 360 minutes a week of this kind of support.
IEP Goals
In IEPs the team developes measureable goals for the student to work on. These goals are formated at "By (date) Student will complete (skill) with 75% acceracy in 3 out of 4 trails". Progress on these goals is assessed and measured mutltiple times through out the year.
Personal Learning Plan Goals
Students that need more stuctured support can have a PLP or Personal Learning Plan. We work with families to develop goals for their students each year. Some students have 2 goals some have up to 5. These goals help inform teachers on what to work on in our classes. These goals also vary in form. Where IEP goals are always measurable, our PLP are not always measurable. They may be as vague as "learn to knit". Progress on these goals is also only reported once at the end of the year.
IEP Accommodations
Accommodations allow students to complete the same tasks as their peers but with some variation in time, format, setting, or presentation. Some common accomodations include:
Extra time
Preferental seating
Taking breaks
Working while standing
Using a calculator
Classroom Adaptations
At Mistwood we are generally willing to make any adaptations we can. Our ability to adapt is constrand mostly by our staffs avlibilty/time needed for the adaption.
You are welcome to talk with our staff about what adaptions we can make to accomidate your student.
IEP Modifications
Modifications change what students are expected to learn based on their abilities. For example, modifying the reading level of an assignment, or offering a pass/no pass grading option or changing what level or topic of math.
Classroom Differentiation
At Mistwood teachers often have different expectations for different students within the same class. This is a benefit of a mixed age setting where students are naturally working at different skill levels. Our ability to differentiated is constrand mostly by our staffs availability/time needed for the adaption.
You are welcome to talk with our staff about what differentiation we can make to accommodate your student.
