First US National Tour | June 1989
Michael Crawford (The Phantom of the Opera), Dale Kristien (Christine Daaé), Steve Barton (t/r Raoul, Vicomte de Chagny), Leigh Munro (Carlotta Giudicelli), Calvin Remsberg (Monsieur Firmin), Norman Large (Monsieur André), Barbara Lang (Madame Giry), Gualtiero Negrini (Ubaldo Piangi), Elizabeth Stringer (Meg Giry)
NOTES: (VOB + smalls - 2.02 GB) Lots of washout and generation loss, but the best video of Michael Crawford around. According to another site, it is Reece Holland as Raoul in the video, though some footage may be from Steve Barton's three week stint in the production. Two versions: Version 1 has brighter colors but more generation loss, Version 2 is smaller in file size but has sharper details and lines. March 1991 video with Normal Large is actually a mislabelled copy of this.
First US National Tour | 1990
Michael Crawford (The Phantom of the Opera), Mary D'Arcy (alt Christine Daaé), Reece Holland (Raoul, Vicomte de Chagny), Leigh Munro (Carlotta Giudicelli), Calvin Remsberg (Monsieur Firmin), Norman Large (Monsieur André), Barbara Lang (Madame Giry), Gualtiero Negrini (Ubaldo Piangi), Elizabeth Stringer (Meg Giry)
NOTES: (VOB + smalls - 4.14 GB)
First US National Tour | January 3, 1991 (VOB + no smalls, MKV)
Michael Crawford (t/r The Phantom of the Opera), Dale Kristien (Christine Daaé), Michael Piontek (Raoul, Vicomte de Chagny)
NOTES: (VOB + no smalls - 1.96 GB; MKV - 2.89 GB) Phantom-oriented highlights, probably the clearest video of Crawford yet. VOB version and MKV version with adjusted brightness and contrast.
First US National Tour | 1991
Davis Gaines (The Phantom of the Opera), Dale Kristien (Christine Daaé), Michael Piontek (Raoul, Vicomte de Chagny)
NOTES: (VOB + smalls - 3.97 GB) Also labelled as 1993.
First US National Tour | August 29, 1993 - House-Cam
Davis Gaines (The Phantom of the Opera), Dale Kristien (Christine Daaé), Michael Piontek (Raoul, Vicomte de Chagny), Leigh Munro (Carlotta Giudicelli), Calvin Remsberg (Monsieur Firmin), Norman Large (Monsieur André), Barbara Lang (Madame Giry), Gualtiero Negrini (Ubaldo Piangi), Elizabeth Stringer (Meg Giry)
NOTES: (VOB + no smalls - 2.71 GB) Closing night in Los Angeles. Includes several news reports with pro-shot clips of the show.
- This is actually August 28th which was the night before. However, since it is commonly traded this way, I will keep it with the label that's easier to find.
First US National Tour | 1998 (MP4)
Brad Little (The Phantom of the Opera), Amy Jo Arrington/Megan Starr Levitt ? (Christine Daaé)
NOTES: (MP4) In Texas. About 12 minutes. Because of the quality and that Amy and Megan did look a little similar, it's hard to tell who is playing Christine
- Unsure if this is the original format because it's pretty low quality and a very small file size. It's definitely still watchable despite this. I will update when I figure out who the Christine is. I'll trade as an audio because it's barely a video
First US National Tour | October 14, 1998
Franc D'Ambrosio (The Phantom of the Opera), Lisa Vroman (Christine Daaé), Christopher Carl (Raoul, Vicomte de Chagny)
NOTES: (MP4 - 3.9 GB) Phantom-oriented highlights shot in portrait. Great quality for its age.
- So many nice closeups in this video and the one below. Franc has a unique light and haunting tone. His Phantom seems soft, but oh he feels a lot and gets pretty intense when he flips. He also has some really interesting facial expressions. Underrated Phantom in my opinion! The whole trio in both videos is wonderful (especially Lisa of course).
First US National Tour | October 15, 1998
Franc D'Ambrosio (The Phantom of the Opera), Lisa Vroman (Christine Daaé), Christopher Carl (Raoul, Vicomte de Chagny)
NOTES: (MP4 - 815 MB) Shot by the same filmer as the October 14, 1998 San Francisco video, but more complete. Two MP4 files of most of the trio scenes, totaling about 90 minutes. The beginning includes exterior footage of San Francisco's Curran Theatre. Video is shot in portrait-mode.
Second US National Tour | 1992
Kevin Gray (The Phantom of the Opera), Dodie Pettit (u/s Christine Daaé), Teri Bibb (Christine Daaé), Keith Buterbaugh (Raoul, Vicomte de Chagny), Nat Chandler (Raoul, Vicomte de Chagny), David Hunerjaeger
NOTES: (VOB + smalls) 3 sets of highlights in one DVD (June 25, 1992, June 26, 1992, 1993). First two (from Philadelphia) probably were filmed by the same person and quality there is quite poor. Detroit video is much better, but it's shorter (35 minutes comparing to 85 and 45 minutes for others). Released and circulated as one DVD.
Second US National Tour | September 1998
Davis Gaines (The Phantom of the Opera), Marie Danvers (Christine Daaé), Lawrence Anderson (u/s Raoul), Jennifer Dawn Stillings (Meg Giry)
NOTES: (VOB + no smalls) Pretty good quality considering it's age; has yellow-ish tinge but is quite clear in details and facial expressions. Flub during the mirror scene, where the light doesn't go on to illuminate the Phantom.
Second US National Tour | October 4, 1998
Davis Gaines (The Phantom of the Opera), Marie Danvers (Christine Daaé), Lawrence Anderson (u/s Raoul, Vicomte de Chagny), Leila Martin (Madame Giry)

NOTES: (VOB + smalls - 4.59 GB)
- Brad and Lisa are perfect together, these two are legends. This final lair? Crazy. Brad's "you try my patience-"...chills. Overall a great cast and performance.

NOTES: (VOB + smalls - 4.25 GB) Missing all but the very last word of the prologue. When the chandelier lights and begins its ascent, there is video disturbance, as well as audio disturbance. Video is non-existent in the beginning of the Angel Of Music scene, and there are a few cover-ups in Hannibal. Missing the beginning of "I Remember" . . . picks up at Christine's line "Who is that shape in the shadows?"

Act 2 starts at 'Why So Silent', 'Twisted Every Way', graveyard scenes, 'Point of No Return', and the 'Final Lair'. Issues with the light meter in the dark scenes causes a lot of blurriness

NOTES: (VOB + smalls - 7.71 GB) A bit on the darkish side since my light meter messed up. A brief cover-up for a few seconds during Hannibal. A *crazy* audience that applauds at every available moment. Also a funny flub where the monkey sits tipped over on its side for almost all of Final Lair. Mauer very smoothly fixes it when he's screaming at Christine and Raoul to go.

NOTES: (VOB + no smalls - 4.22 GB) Starts at Think of Me in Act 1 and halfway through Masquerade in Act 2. Recorded from the stalls with excellent close-ups, but occasionally obstructed by a head. There is a flub where Christine struggled to take the hood off of the Phantom at the end of The Point of No Return. Also includes 'Point of No Return' and the 'Final Lair' with Marie Danvers as Christine.
Third US National Tour | April 6, 2006 - musicinthestars

NOTES: (VOB + smalls - 4.15 GB) 2 camera edit of Elizabeth Southard's final performance. Very good and emotional show to watch. Real life husband and wife Phantom and Christine.
- One of the best videos to watch if you're not very familiar with the show because of how well it's filmed and edited. Lots of emotion from Gary and Beth because it's their final show. Everyone in the main trio is top tier to me.
Third US National Tour | April 7, 2006 - musicinthestars

NOTES: (VOB + no smalls - 4.29 GB) Closing night in St. Louis. Missing prologue, starts from half way during Overture. Kimilee's final show with the tour. Very nice and steady filmed. Lots of close-up scenes. Jennifer carried an amazing show. It is the only known video with Kimilee's Carlotta and Adam as Raoul.

Pretty shaky video with some washout.

NOTES: (VOB + smalls - 5.34 GB) First 20 minutes of the show has 8 minutes of scattered blackouts with the last one in the middle of Christine's "Think of Me," and then the show is intact after that; a head on either side that blocks the far sides of the stage, they do obstruct the action occasionally, especially in the first act, but worked around as much as possible. Some washout here and there, but nothing terrible. Includes curtain call and speeches by Tim Martin Gleason and Andrew Lloyd Webber.

NOTES: (VOB + smalls) Beautiful HD capture with no obstructions. Grace does a terrific job as the alternate Christine and has wonderful voice. Lindsay as Carlotta has one of the highest singing voices I have ever heard in the role
Fourth US National Tour | 2015
Chris Mann (The Phantom of the Opera), Katie Travis (Christine Daaé), Storm Lineberger (Raoul de Chagny)
NOTES: (MP4) Highlights

The first minute of the show is blacked out but it's complete after that with no washout and no obstruction. It's filmed in 16:9 with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound is excellent. Includes curtain call and playbill scans.

NOTES: (VOB + smalls - 6.92 GB) Great video of the fourth national tour.
- Even though I'm not a fan of the characterization in this staging, I think Derrick was the best restaged US tour Phantom and did pretty well with what he was given. Wish he could've been in the Broadway production. Not a fan of Jordan Craig's Raoul at all.
Fourth US National Tour | December 21, 2018 - mynewfavoriteday

NOTES: (MTS) Act Two Only! HD capture of the reimagined touring production. Filmed from the very right mezzanine, there are occasionally heads that block both far edges of the screen and a prominent one that blocks the bottom of the stage, but is shot around as best as possible when affected. Filmed with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups, with occasional obstructions and dropouts due to the audience.

NOTES: (MP4 - 9.24 GB) NFT until September 21, 2026. Great capture of the Box Five tour's alt Christine with a s/w Phantom. There is a moving head in the bottom right corner which is worked around as much as possible. It does mildly obstruct at times. Some shakiness and moments of readjustment throughout.

Todd Noel (u/s The Phantom of the Opera), Susan Cuthbert (Christine Daaé), Lyse Guerin (Carlotta Giudicelli)
NOTES: (VOB + no smalls - 64.5 MB) Single-cam proshot with soundboard audio of the title song and 'Music of the Night'. - No idea why the file size is so small when they're VOB format. I'm assuming they may have been converted from another format or compressed at some point, but I haven't seen many people with this in general to be able to verify.

Peter Karrie (The Phantom of the Opera), Teresa DeZarn (Christine Daaé), David Rogers (Raoul, Vicomte de Chagny)
NOTES: (VOB + smalls - 1.76 GB) Highlights. Captures mostly the Phantom's parts. Said to be the only video of Peter in the role. There's what I think of as the typical "transfer line" at the bottom of the screen from the VHS-to-DVD transfer. There are some focus issues here and there (but nothing too atypical) and it is a bit shaky . There is some generation loss. Facial features are still very distinguishable when they're not in a spotlight washout area. Some of the colors had started to fade, however. Decent mix of wide shots and zooms. Taper knew the show well and doesn't miss much of the action at all. Includes an interview with Peter Karrie after the video as well as pro-shot clips of MOTN and the title song.
