Points of Unity: Recipe/Lesson Plan for a Better World
Introduction: This document was created by a small group of people motivated to improve our union, schools, and community. It is a living document, and we see it as something that we change as we evolve in the work in the realm of both ideas and action.
Our current society is divided into a small minority of the super rich who own most of the world’s resources and the vast majority of people who have to work to survive and who own little to nothing. As class struggle unionists we recognize that the only way to build a just and equal society is to abolish the minority class of billionaires that leave working people to suffer on their own. Our aim is to build working class political power to challenge the capitalist class’s control over our lives. As educators this means we fight against divestment from public schools and school privatization; we fight for schools with robust support and programs that serve the communities where they reside; and we are building the strength of our class to carry out its interest more broadly to help create justice for all.
