The Collaborate in the Cloud course focus is on the implementation of Microsoft Office 365 Online applications to improve communication and collaboration among colleagues who need to co-author, share, and discuss work products virtually.
Rationale: Once Participants are able to collaborate on products in real-time with a more efficient way to share, view, and communicate, they will be saving time on task. Ultimately, products can be completed at a faster rate and with more accuracy. All of these factors will help to increase the company’s return on investment.
Terminal Objective: By the end of this course participants will be able to utilize the co-author and communication features to collaborate virtually/remotely with colleagues via Microsoft Office 365 applications in the cloud to optimize collaboration and increase productivity.
This course offers opportunities for participants to engage in relevant activities that draw from authentic experiences.
Because of the collaborative nature of the course, it’s recommended that participants form a small group of 2 to 4 colleagues and complete the course together.
Like most courses designed and developed for a corporate client, the process begins with a Training Analysis to identify if the program the organization is facing can be resolved with training. In the case for the Collaborate in the Cloud course, employees at a large international business need to solve the problem of collaboration while working remote in their home offices. By learning how to use the collaboration features of Microsoft Office 365, the employees will be able to solve their collaboration problems and improve productivity.
Knowing that adult learners acquire new information and build upon existing knowledge more effectively if they are encouraged to explore activities on their own and decide
which aspects of the information they want to take away from the learning experience, the course is designed with independent learning activities,
followed up with collaborative sharing and discussions and supported by a Q & A form that's put in place if learners need to ask questions.
We’ve learned in the Transformational Learning Theory the importance of pointing out to participants what they “don’t know” to make them curious about the course and content.
The Pre-Course survey asks participants if they already know how to share and communicate virtually within applications. A ”not yet” response helps to build curiosity and will also establish their personal relevance for WIIFM at the beginning of the course.
The Challenge by Choice application and product choice board learning experience allows participants who are already comfortable with an application to choose to either complete the activity in their comfort zone or branch out to try something new. This element of the coursework benefits participants professionally, enabling them to participate in a specific task that targets specific technical skills which are directly related to real-world situations in their field of work.
In addition, we’ve learned in the Experiential Learning Theory that learning is a result of doing something. Therefore, each of the tasks in the Collaborate in the Cloud course has been carefully designed as hands-on Active Experimentation, followed by Reflect Observation where participants engage with and reflect on their experiences.
