Let’s begin with a simple phrase: “The Danger of a Single Story.”
What comes to mind when you hear it? Can you think of an example where you or someone else was judged based on a single story or stereotype? Before diving deeper, take a moment to reflect on what you already know about stereotypes, labels, and how we sometimes reduce people or places to just one version of who or what they are.
TASK #1
Write down your thoughts:
What do you think a “single story” is?
Have you experienced this – being seen only through one lens?
Have you seen others judged this way?
TASK #2 (optional)
Draw a mind map or sketch to show where these single stories come from (e.g. media, books, social media, education, etc.).
Check this link for instructions on how to create a mind map.
