APB
Official Website
APB started from the thought that the EO step of Petrus should be simultaneously accomplishing something other than only edge orientation.

I wasn't a Petrus user, contrary to what the wording may convey. I had been experimenting with the methods available at the time in 2005 - 2006. Petrus was one method that I had tried out a lot. So in January - February 2006 I came to the conclusion that the edge orientation step almost felt like a waste, and I ultimately chose Roux.
In 2021, I started a discussion in the Petrus channel of the r/cubers Discord server.
Discussion on adding something to the EO step of Petrus
Discussion on using different strategies for the 2x2x3, including the 1x2x3 block start.
The original APB proposal.
The APB acronym and original name was created by Ryan Hudgens (OreKehStrah).
Melkor refined the name in response to me wanting to not have it named after Petrus.

So the name became Athefre's Pair and Block.
The method was fully developed and presented to the community in September 2021.
Vincent Trang pushed for the 1x2x3 start to be the standard for APB.
Vincent Trang suggested that two new pair types be added versus always placing the pair on the U layer.
The Last Extended Slot step name was proposed by Liam Highducheck in January, 2022.
It was decided to make the acronym LXS and the pronunciation be Lexus.
