Sophomores

Sophomores should continue to focus on their grades, striving to do the best that they can, and continuing their involvement in extracurricular activities. It's also important to begin the process of matching interests with possible college majors and future careers.

Standardized Testing

All sophomores will be taking the Pre ACT test on Friday, October 10, 2025 here at MCCHS. It is important for all of our students to be in attendance on this day and to take the testing seriously. Results will assist greatly with future planning and will help students identify strengths and weaknesses early on in their high school career as they prepare to be "college ready".

Future Planning/SCOIR/PreACT

Mr. Fearn presented to the sophomores in their Advisory on Friday, September 12 about steps to be taking now in the future planning process, using SCOIR, and the upcoming PreACT Test. The presentation can be viewed here:

Mr. Fearn presented to the sophomores in their advisory on November 17 and November 21 about using their PreACT results and future planning. The presentation can be viewed here:

Activity Resume

Mr. Wochner resented this PowerPoint in September 2025 to the Sophomores in Advisory. Getting a head start on this High School/Activity Resume will be extremely helpful as our students progress throughout high school. Many college applications will ask for a student's involvement, community service hours, and employment.

Scoir/College Visits

Mr. Wochner presented this PowerPoint in January 2026 to the Sophomores in Advisory. Mr. Wochner explained how to use Scoir to search colleges and more information about them. He also talked about how sophomores can begin to meet with college reps when they visit Marian Central Catholic beginning in February.
