Attached is an IEP assignment that I completed which shows that I know how to plan and accommodate for students with special needs. I am aware that I may have students with special needs or disabilities within my CTE program and I am prepared to provide them with a bias-free environment where they are free from bias and discrimination. All students from diverse backgrounds are welcome within my program and I want all my students to feel welcomed and supported. If needed, I will adjust and accommodate lessons and activities to ensure that all students have an equal opportunity to succeed.
In terms of access and equity, I know that I may have immigrant student who know little to no English. This is why I have created a Spanish version of a skill sheet I will use in one of my lessons. All the students in my class will be provided with the same information and opportunities to succeed. The purpose of the skill sheet is for students to use it as a guide to do the activity themselves. Once they have looked at the skill sheet and are still confused or do not know what to do then they should come and ask me for help. Having a skill sheet is going to help my students be more independent and think critically.
