Matthew 9:9-13
Jesus Came for Sinners
9 As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector's booth. "Follow me," he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him.
10 While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew's house, many tax collectors and "sinners" came and ate with him and his disciples. 11 When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, "Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and 'sinners'?"
12 On hearing this, Jesus said, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 13 But go and learn what this means: 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice.' For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."
Jesus wanted people to follow Him...He wanted people to learn from Him and follow His Ways, His Truths and the Way He led His Life...
Jesus lived for God and He thought of others and He helped others...He thought of others before Himself...He was at many times helping sinners...He fulfilled the Old Testament Scriptures...There was no New Testament at that time, so as He was living and teaching and doing the things in His life the New Testament came into being during the time He was living among us...He started Christianity...Can one imagine One Man who started religion?...Jesus was not like Buddha, Muhammad, or Confucius...They taught others, but they were different...As Jesus told Matthew, and His other followers Follow Me...His teachings were about God and are teachings like no other...He told His Disciples and followers to follow His teachings and the Truth would set them free...Jesus tells us that He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and no one gets to the Father except through Him...And when we are tired and weary He told them to follow Him...“Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest...Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I AM gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls...For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”...
So let us love God, help our neighbors, follow Jesus' Teachings and obey the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament and we will be walking with our Father...Let us follow the Truth, the Way, and the Life...
