Matthew 8:14-17
Jesus Heals Many
14When Jesus came into Peter's house, he saw Peter's mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever. 15He touched her hand and the fever left her, and she got up and began to wait on him.
16When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick. 17This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah:
"He took up our infirmities
and carried our diseases."
Jesus is our healer...Jesus heals many people...Here He is with Peter, and in his house...Peter's Mother in Law is in bed with a fever...Jesus touched her and the fever left her...Jesus was always helping...Jesus was just there with Peter (visiting at Peter's house)...Jesus helps Peter's wife's mother...After she is healed (and healed quickly)...She gets up and assists Jesus as soon as she is feeling better...Jesus has a charisma, an authority that people wanted to listen and be around Him...Peter had Him at his house, probably to learn...His mother in law as soon as she is healed, gets up and waits on Him...
Jesus, later that evening, many other ill people were brought to Him...He drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick...This fulfills the prophecy of Isaiah...Isaiah said that He (in one of the Servant Songs of Isaiah, in Isaiah 53:4) would take up our infirmities and carry our diseases...Jesus is an authoritative healer and the crowds were increased with all the healings and miracle healings He did...Healing was a part of Jesus ministry...
Jesus was so different from any other man in our history...He was a great healer, a teacher, a minister, and could do miracles (such as feeding four thousand, walking on water)...
Wherever we go and no matter what time it is, Jesus teaches us to help...After Peter's mother in law, is up serving and assisting others when she is healed...We should always remember to help others...Healing was important to Jesus and His teachings...There has been no other healer like Him...He came and died for us and our sins...He came to get us closer to God...
