January 6th riot and storming of the us capitol

On January 6th, a brigade of Trump supporters gathered to protest the results of the 2020 election. The protest wouldn't last long, as it would turn into chaotic acts of domestic terrorism after protestors clashed with police, broke through barricades, and stormed the US Capitol building. I don’t think the storming of the Capitol, as it’s now commonly referred to as, was an attempted insurrection per se. I’m sure there were those that had insurrection on the mind and a desire to do something to overturn the election results once they breached the capitol building doors and those who wouldn’t have minded if during their spree in the Capitol building some certain politicians were killed or something happened to where trump was named the victor of the 2020 election but I think it was mainly an expression of spontaneous rage like an emotional teenager acting out. Still illegal, criminal, indefensible, and totally invalidating conservatives stance on law and order, police, and the BLM riots of the summer of 2020, but not necessarily a highly coordinated insurrection attempt. Below are primary accounts of the clashes with police, debunks regarding "Antifa" being responsible, along with other news regarding the storming of the Capitol.

Trump: "The demonstrators who infiltrated the capitol have defiled the seat of American democracy. To those who engaged in the acts of violence and destruction: you do not represent our country."

This quote comes from a Twitter video the president posted. Trump's Twitter has since been removed, but the transcript of the video can still be found. Kayleigh McEnany also expressed similar views. A local Baltimore news station and The Wrap include quotes from the video and it can be viewed on YouTube.

MAGA Idiots/terrorists clash with police

So much for de-fend the police, back the Blue and Blue Lives Matter. These actions also contradict a Tomi Lahren tweet (see below Figure 1), a Charlie Kirk tweet (Figure 2), as well as some others seen in this Tweet.

Link to video - Trump supporters drag a cop into their mob, hit cop with flags they've brought, and beat him. Here is an alternative link in case the first is taken down. There's a still image of an overhead shot that shows this well from a different angle.

What should happen to these idiots? I'm inclined to agree with Trump (see Figure 4). FOX News also reported on this.

An officer - Brian Sicknick -actually died after being physically injured by engaging with protestors. Apparently he was struck with a fire extinguisher. Trump actually has not ordered for the White House flags, or seemingly any government flags, to be lowered to honor the death of the Capital police officer. Seems he has also refused, or has yet to, offer condolences to the cop's family. Here's a Twitter thread about in, in addition to the news article linked.

According to idiots, January 6th was supposed to be the day that vice president Mike Pence overturned the election for Trump or rejected the electoral votes. Pence did no such thing and would later go on to say "I heard this week that President Trump said I had the right to overturn the election. President Trump is wrong. I had no right to overturn the election. The presidency belongs to the American people, and the American people alone."

Following the harrowing events of the day, Trump's Twitter account was removed and many called for the identification and prosecution of those involved. Being idiots, many conservatives tried to somehow connect the events to George Orwell's 1984, despite that not being what the book is about.

Fun fact about George Orwell: Orwell himself has written that "Every line of serious work that I have written since 1936 has been written, directly or indirectly, against totalitarianism and for democratic socialism, as I understand it."

"antifa" was not involved

Most of this section was done with the help of seditiontrack.com

Were there "Antifa" at the Capitol January 6th? Maybe. Did they storm the Capitol? Probably not. The Proud Boys even had plans to dress as "Antifa" at the rally so even if you think someone is "Antifa" they could be a Proud Boy dressing up. Yahoo, The Hill, and FOX News also reported on this. The FBI has stated that there is no evidence of "Antifa" being involved in the storming of the Capitol and a facial recognition company, XRVision, has said they also have no proof of any "Antifa" involvement.

This chronology of Tweets from Kevin Sorbo pretty much sums up the MAGA reactions to this event: first excitement, then awe, then speculation (once they realize how bad it makes them look), and then disassociation and blame shifting ("Antifa" did it).

In addition to the individuals listed below, the Washington Post reports that a majority of individuals who are suspected to have participated in the events in DC on January 6th are white supremacists and were on the Terrorist Screening Database.

Here are some notable GOP/Trump supporters who've been identifies as participants in the riot.

  • Link - Newly sworn in Republican West Virginia lawmaker records himself storming the Capitol. The New York Post has published video of the man recording himself shouting "We're in baby!" at the event. He has since been arrested.

  • Link - Off-duty police officer, who has since been charged for his role in the riot, posts on Facebook: "CNN and the Left are just mad because we actually attacked the government who is the problem and not some random small business ... The right IN ONE DAY took the f***** U.S. Capitol. Keep poking us."

  • Link - White nationalist and internet "troll" Baked Alaska also identified as part of the storming of the Capitol and streamed the event. Part of his stream can be viewed here. Here is a link to an Alaska news outlet. Here is a link to part of his stream where he is being ejected from the Capitol. Baked Alaska has since been arrested by the FBI, with the FBI saying that he streamed the event live for 27 minutes and encouraged others not to leave when authorities were trying to remove them from the Capitol building. Baked Alaska has previously made a "Keep America Great Anthem." Even Keemstar tweeted about this lmao.

    • Alaska has apparently been cooperating with the FBI to help identify people who appeared on his stream while in the US Capitol.

  • Link - Richard Barnett, the dude who was photographed in Pelosi's office and took some of her mail, has been arrested. Barnett is from Arkansas and has been to local Republican rallies. Barnett is also a self described white nationalist, stating so in a Facebook post on an account he used under a pseudonym as reported by the Washington Post. Yahoo News has also reported on this.

  • Link - Trump "campaign contributor" Bradley Rukstales has been arrested for storming the Capit0l.

  • Link - Doug Jensen, who was "strongly influenced by online presences such as QAnon that confused or altered his view on certain things" according to his brother, has been arrested and charged. Jensen has previous run ins with the law, previously being charged with theft, trespassing, and domestic assault, and disorderly conduct. His brother is a Republican Trump supporter and said that Jensen perceived Trump to be Q and that Trump (as Q) was telling him what to do.

  • Link - Ashli Babbitt, the woman who was shot and killed in the US Capitol by a security guard in a suit, was a Trump supporter and strong patriot, according to her husband. Babbitt's mother in law also confirms that she is a Trump supporter, as per the New York Post. Babbitt also tweeted "Nothing will stop us....they can try and try and try but the storm is here and it is descending upon DC in less than 24 hours....dark to light!" the day before the riots (see Figure 49 below). In the past, Babbitt harassed her husband's ex and was charged with reckless endangerment, dangerous driving and malicious property damage and had a restraining order against her, as per the New York Post. She was also issued two peace orders, with the first coming in 2016, and the aforementioned restraining order came in 2017 as per the Wall Street Journal. Babbit's mother has said the people like her daughter were "true patriots doing what [the president] told them to do. They believed this was a stolen election."

  • Link - Kevin Seefried, who told federal authorities that he normally flies the Confederate flag outside of his home and brought it to the Capitol to hear Trump speak and participate in the storming of the Capitol, has been arrested and charged along with his son. His son, Hunter, helped break down a window through which the Seefrieds and others entered the Capitol building.

  • Link - Robert Sanford, the guy who threw a fire extinguisher at police officers (apparently separate from the incident that killed Brian Sicknick), has been arrested and charged. A friend of his who identified Sanford to the FBI said that Sanford "had gone to the White House and listened to President Donald J. Trump's speech and then had followed the President's instructions and gone to the Capitol." Authorities also found a Proud Boys t-shirt in Sanford's home.

  • Link - Jenna Ryan, who video taped herself at the Capitol riots and posted pictures to social media, says "I thought I was following my president. I thought I was following what we were called to do. He asked us to fly there. So I was doing was he asked us to do." She wants people to know that "I listen to my president who told me to go to the Capitol" and thinks she deserves a pardon because of this. Trump obviously did not pardon her, so she is now asking for money to help her pay for her legal fees (see Figure 50 below), despite the fact she apparently had enough money to take a private plane to the Capital. She apparently now realizes this was all a lie and Trump just wanted people there as an ego boost.

  • Link - Robert Bauer, a Kentucky man who traveled to DC with his wife and cousin, says that he marched on the Capitol "because President Trump said to do so." His cousin says that during a Trump rally that day the president "said something about taking Pennsylvania Avenue."

  • Link - Garret Miller stated that he would be driving across the country for "Trump shit" is facing charges for his role in the storming of the Capitol after he posted a video from inside the building on Twitter. He later Tweeted "assassinate AOC." He was one of those who pushed through police officers to get into the building according to local news reports. That local news report also says that Miller expressed that the officer who shot and killed Ashli Babbitt should be hung.

  • Link - Bruno Joseph Cua, an 18 year old who was driven to the Capitol on the 6th by his parents, has been arrested and charged his actions on the 6th. In messages following the day's events Cua stated that he would have given his life for Trump and that he wanted to "lock the swamp rat tyrants in the capitol and burn the place to the ground.” On Parler, he posted screenshots of Trump's tweets with messages like "it's time to take our freedom back the old fashioned way," and "this is the third time he's tweeted about it [the Stop the Steal protest on the 6th]. this is where and when we make our stand."

  • Link - Barton Shively, who drove across country with friends to attend Donald Trump's speech on the sixth, has been charged with punching a police officer. He was also part of the initial group that first pushed past barricades.

  • Link - QAnon idiot Yvonne St Cyr has been arrested for her role in the riots and she livestreamed it as well.

  • Link - W McCall Calhoun, who made statements to social media that anyone who voted for a Democrat needed to be executed - "shot on site" - according to a judge, has been arrested and charged. In another social media post he stated that "We are going to kill every last communist that stands in Trump's way." He also said that Nancy Pelosi would have been "torn to pieces" if she was in her office.

  • Link - Bryan Betancur, a self identified white supremacist according to an FBI agent's sworn statement, has been charged for storming the Capitol after his ankle monitor placed him at the event.

  • Link - Philip Grillo, a Republican committeeman from Queens who apparently is a district leader according to the website (Figure 51 below), has been arrested and charged for participating in the storming of the Capitol. Grillo went by "The Republican Messiah" on Facebook (Figure 52).

  • Link - Friend/ally, or at the very least someone Marjorie Taylor Greene knows personally and has collaborated with, had been identified as a participant in the storming of the Capitol and dispels rumors that BLM or "Antifa" were involved. His name is Anthony Aguero.

  • Link - Trump appointee Federico Klein who worked for the campaign in 2016 has been arrested and charged for his role in the rioting. He had been a mid-level State Department aid and apparently was still employed there on the sixth.

  • Link - Paul Miller, a racist and white supremacist, has been detained for his role in the events of the sixth. In several videos uploaded online, he brandished and discussed guns, posed next to Nazi flags, claimed that he is “trying to build” an army, and said “I hate the Jews. I want to gas ‘em.”

  • Link - The president of the Philadelphia Proud Boys Zach Rehl has been arrested and charged for his role in the rioting.

  • Link - Proud Boys leader from North Carolina Charles Donohoe has been arrested and charged for his role in the rioting. He, along with Zach Rehl, Joe Biggs, and Ethan Nordean have all been indicted.

  • Link - Joe Biggs, a Proud Boys organizer, has been arrested and charged. He marched alongside Ethan Nordean and Zach Rehl.

  • Link - Six Proud Boys members/affiliates - William Chrestman, Christopher Kuehne, Ryan Ashlock, Louis Enrique Colon, Felicia Konold, and Cory Konold - have been indicted for their role in the riot.

  • Link - Christopher Worrell, a Proud Boy according to government documents, has been arrested for his role in the riots on the sixth. He had previously been charged with impersonating a police officer. This dumbass would contract COVID-19 while in jail and complained about it, yet didn't wear a mask when he stormed the Capitol.

  • Link - Ethan Nordean, a Proud Boy from the organization's Seattle chapter, has been arrested for his role in the days events and was apparently one of near the front of a crowd of rioters who forced entry into the Capitol. Prior to the day he apparently posted plans of an organized effort to incite violence on social media.

  • Link - Proud boy Dominic Pezzola was one of the first people to breech the US Capitol building and, along with Hunter Seefried, broke a window on the building to use as a point of entry.

  • Link - Hawaiian Proud Boys chapter founder Nicholas Ochs was among those who stormed the Capitol and has been charged with "unlawful entry into restricted buildings or grounds." The New York Post has reported on this as well. Ochs also previously ran for public office as a Republican and was endorsed by Trump ally Roger Stone.

  • Link - Kelly and Connie Meggs, a married couple who are affiliated with the far-right militia group Oath Keepers, have been arrested and charged for participating in storming the Capitol. Kelly allegedly wrote this message on social media in December: "Trump said It’s gonna be wild!!!!!!! It’s gonna be wild!!!!!!! He wants us to make it WILD that’s what he’s saying. He called us all to the Capitol and wants us to make it wild!!! Sir Yes Sir!!! Gentlemen we are heading to DC pack your s***!!” This idiot even referred to the 6th as an "insurrection" in communication with others according to documents released by prosecutors.

  • Link - Kenneth Harrelson, a member of the Oath Keepers, has been indicted by a federal jury for his role in the riots on the sixth.

  • Link - Joshua James, a man with connections to the Oath Keepers, has been arrested in connection to the Capitol riots.

  • Link - In addition to the couple mentioned above there have been other Oath Keepers charged for their role in the storming of the Capit0l. Jessica Watkins (who is photographed with a pro-Trump sign at the riot and apparently is transgender), Donovan Crowl (an ex-marine), Thomas Edward Caldwell (who has a "leadership role" in the organization according to prosecutors), Graydon Young, Laura Steele, and Sandra Ruth and Bennie Alvin Parker have all been arrested and charged. Gradyon Young has plead guilty.

In addition to Jake Angeli, who is mentioned below, there are four others - Jenna Ryan, Robert Sanford, Robert Bauer, and Doug Jensen - who explicitly name Trump as their reason for being in DC and participating in the riot. Angeli and Ryan feel Trump should pardon them for this reason. Another man, William Watson, who has since been charged said he was following a schedule promoted by Alex Jones. Also, keep in mind that in Trump's speech prior to the storming of the Capit0l he said "And we fight. We fight like hell. And if you don't fight like hell, you're not going to have a country anymore." He also stated that the most "exciting adventures and boldest endeavors have not yet begun" and that his supporters were to walk down Pennsylvania Avenue to the Capitol and give weak Republicans pride and boldness to "take back our country." With Trump telling his supporters they needed to fight like hell to take their country back and walk to the Capitol and take action which would inspire others to take back the country it can certainly be interpreted as a spark to the day's events. Also, keep in mind that this was all said in the last moments of his speech, so this is what he wanted to end on and this message of fighting like hell and going to the Capitol is what he wanted to leave his supporters with. The part about going to the Capitol peacefully was in the middle of the speech, hardly having the impact of the rhetoric at the speech's conclusion. He also mentioned the word "peaceful" once in the speech and the word "fight," in regards to his supporters or Republicans in general, 15 times. He even said in the speech that "you have to get your people to fight." Considering how he ended the speech and the many times he used the word fight that's what he was trying to do. Trump's former Secretary of Defense Chris Miller has even said that the storming of the Capitol would not have happened without the president's speech.

Also remember who encouraged others to attend the event: Trump

  • Tweet - "The BIG Protest Rally in Washington, D.C., will take place at 11.00 A.M. on January 6th. Locational details to follow. StopTheSteal!" (Figure 46 below).

  • Tweet - "See you January 6th in D.C." (Figure 47 below).

  • Tweet - "See you in Washington, DC, on January 6th. Don’t miss it. Information to follow!" (Figure 48 below).

One of the already famous images to come out of this event is a photo in which two "Antifa" members are supposedly identified: a shirtless guy with tattoos wearing animal hide with horns and another dude right next to him with long hair and a beard and a tattoo on his right hand (seen below in Figure 5). Let's start with the first guy, who I'll refer to as Viking dude and then the second, who I'll refer to as Dishonored dude.

Viking dude's real name is Jake Angeli, apparently known as the 'Qanon Shaman"

  • Angeli has asked Trump for a pardon and his attorney says that Angeli was following the president's invitation to march to the Capitol. His attorney says that Angeli "accepted the president's invitation" and "took seriously the countless messages of Donald Trump."

  • Angeli had been spotted at a Black Lives Matter protest in Arizona and many idiots are quick to claim this is proof he is "Antifa." However, an uncropped image of him at the event shows he was holding a sign that says "Q Sent Me" at the event. He was obviously there as a counter protestor and his Facebook posts and history of carrying similar signs at events confirms this.

  • Angeli has also been spotted in Maricopa County wielding a sign that reads "Q sent me." This is seen in Figure 6 below. A member of the Maricopa County of Elections Department also identifies Angeli as having protested on November 5th in an Instagram post.

  • Video of Angeli yelling at people getting COVID-19 tests, making reference to the "corrupt media."

  • AZCentral reports that "Angeli has held forth outside the Arizona Capitol shouting about various conspiracy theories, most related to the wide-ranging beliefs espoused by QAnon" since 2019. If he is an "Antifa" member then why commit to being a QAnon idiot for over a year? Was "Antifa" able to predict that there would be claims of voter fraud in the 2020 election which would lead to a rally/protest by Donald Trump's supporters and thus gave Angeli the task of blending in with the Q community for over a year just so he can then show up at that protest they were able to predict? Yahoo reports that Angeli has been a QAnon follower since 2016.

Dishonored dude's name was thought to be Jason Tankersley but that is debunked. His name is William Watson and he's since been charged.

  • People have tried to claim that the tattoo on his right hand is a hammer and sickle - the communist logo - so obviously he's "Antifa" right? Wrong, the tattoo is actually of a symbol from the Dishonored video game series - the Outsider's Mark. I tweeted about it here.

  • Lin Wood shared the image which includes an image of Jason Tankersley and white nationalist Neo-Nazi Matt Heimbach and while Tankersley at least once was a Neo-Nazi he is not the bearded man pictured at the Capitol. On his Facebook, Tankersley stated, "FYI I am not now nor have I ever been a member of antifa and I was not in DC today." See Wood's tweet in Figure 43 and Tankersley's post in Figure 44.

  • As reported by the New York Post, this guy is William Watson and is from Alabama. He attended the Capitol riot because he was following a schedule promoted by Alex Jones.

In addition to sedition (rhyme) what can these idiots be charged with?

  • Knowingly entering a federal building without permission to do so (a class A misdemeanor).*

  • Engaging in disorderly conduct (a class A misdemeanor).*

  • Violent entry or disorderly conduct at the Capitol (a class B misdemeanor).*

  • Knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority.**

  • Disrupting the orderly conduct of government business.**

  • Parading, demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol building.**

  • Obstructing a law enforcement officer during a civil disorder.**

  • Assaulting a federal law enforcement officer.***

  • Obstruction of justice and aiding and abetting.****

  • Civil disorder.****

  • Impeding passage through the Capitol grounds or buildings.****

  • Also I am pretty sure spreading poop on the hallways in the US Capitol has some consequences.

apparently...

Apparently, the organizers of the Stop the Steal event that turned into the riot/attack on the Capitol used burner phones to communicate with members of Trump's family and White House staff. Here's a link to The Hill's story on it but I am sure you can find plenty more if you just search "Jan 6 burner phones."

Apparently, Fox News hosts and TV personalities texted former Trump chief of staff Mark Medaows messages encouraging him to get Trump on TV and speak out against the attack on the Capitol - check out this from CNN, this from The Atlantic, and this from The New York Times. Politifact notes that the messages they texted Meadows and what they expressed on-air were very different. I would also recommend you read this article from Market Watch. Also, check out this Twitter thread from Liz Cheney.

Apparently, those who stormed the Capitol and were able to enter the building smeared poop over the walls and peed in the hallways. The New York Post, Revolt, NewsHub, International Business Times, and Daily News all also reported on this. In addition, a bust of a former president was smeared with blood and there was a lot of debris left to clean up.

what were the police doing

Chief of Capitol Police announces he will step down (effective January 16th) and that he expected a free speech demonstration and did not expect a violent attack. Daily News also reports the police chief stating that they were not expecting any violence. This unpreparedness could be why it seemed so easy for MAGA idiots to storm the Capitol. One of the men who has been charged for his involvement, William Watson, has said that eventually police "gave up, completely," from trying to stop him and others from storming the Capitol. Watson says he entered the building through a smashed window, perhaps the one that Proud Boy Dominic Pezzola smashed with help from Hunter Seefried, the son of the dude who carried the Confederate flag.

In addition to the police just being unprepared, apparently, some officers were told to crack down on and pursue only anti-Trump protestors.

Police officers help or encourage rioters to enter the Capitol - Link. Link. Link.

According to multiple reports, off duty cops participated in the rioting. The Justice Department has charged two off-duty Virginia police officers for their involvement in the rioting.

Police officer takes selfie with terrorist. Apparently, this specific officer has been suspended, along with some other officers who had some involvement in the day's rioting (one apparently put on a MAGA hat and directed the rioters around). One officer has been arrested as well. The Hill and the Associated Press have also reported on this.

quotes from the gop and others

Mitch McConnell: "There's no question... that President Trump is practically and morally responsible for provoking the events of the day, The people who stormed this building believed they were acting on the wishes and instructions of their president. And having that belief was a foreseeable consequence of the growing crescendo of false statements, conspiracy theories and reckless hyperbole which the defeated president kept shouting into the largest megaphone on planet Earth. These criminals were carrying his banners. Hanging his flags and screaming their loyalty to him. It was obvious that only President Trump could end this... Former aides publicly begged him to do so. Loyal allies frantically called the administration. The president did not act swiftly. He did not do his job... Instead according to public reports he watched television happily as the chaos unfolded, kept pressing his scheme to overturn the election."

Trump's former Secretary of Defense Chris Miller: "Would anybody have marched on the Capitol, and tried to overrun the Capitol, without the president’s speech? I think it’s pretty much definitive that wouldn’t have happened."

Mitt Romney says that this was an "insurrection by the president." His statement can be viewed on his website and you can listen to his comments here.

Republican representative Markwayne Mullin gave an interview to C-SPAN where he justified Ashli Babbit's shooting, saying he told the officer "sir, you did what you had to do."

Josh Hawley, a Republican who was one of those who were going to object to the certification of the election results on the 6th, has said that "The ex-president's rhetoric on the day was inflammatory. I think it was irresponsible. I think it was wrong."

Marco Rubio says that Trump "bears some responsibility" for the events on January 6th.

Former Republican House speaker John Boehner writes that Trump's refusal to accept election results "led to mob violence" and that the GOP now includes "everyone from garden-variety whack jobs to insurrectionists." These come from a new book of his, part of which was given to the New York Times.

FOX News host: "Stop looking for other people to blame," telling Capitol rioters it was something they did not "Antifa" and they'll be held accountable. Says they look like "freaks."

Republican Mike Gallagher: "I haven't seen anything like this since I deployed to Iraq ... this president needs to call it off. It's over. The election is over." Link.

Republican Nancy Mace: "...we’re seeing protesters assaulting Capitol Police. This is wrong. This is not who we are. I’m heartbroken for our nation today." Link.

Republican Lindsey Graham: "Those who made this attack on our government need to be identified and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Their actions are repugnant to democracy." Link.

GOP Leader says this is "un-American" and "not protected by the First Amendment." Link (also below in Figure 3). Apparently McCarthy was on the phone pleading with Trump to go on TV and try and end the mayhem, but the president would not listen. McCarthy thinks Trump bears some responsibility and evidently Trump has taken some responsibility since the phone call.

other stuff about/ from the day

There was a fair amount of anti-Semitic clothing worn during the Capital riot, so much so that the source of it has been identified. In addition to the 6MWE shirts, the website also sold the Camp Auschwitz design which a man was photographed wearing at the Capital.

The Justice Department has considered bringing sedition charges against some rioters and the department has created a specialized task force to examine this possibility. US attorney Michael Sherwin also includes conspiracy charges as possibilities. The Baltimore Sun reports similar information regarding sedition charges.

this was the top post on one of the internet's biggest pro-trump platforms on january 5th
